Memo to Moteliers: More Towel Racks, Less Decorator Pillows

I have a request for the designers of motel, inn, B&B, guesthouse, and hotel rooms across the USA:

Please put more towel racks in the bathroom! Not hooks, racks, or bars, or whatever they call them at the OverPriced Designer Warehouse these days.

I really do want to hang up my towels so that I can save millions of gallons of water and thousands of pounds of detergent each year like the little laminated sign on the toilet requests. But if there are no towel racks, I can’t freakin’ hang up the towels. They don’t dry if they’re on hooks or wadded up on the bed. And if anyone else is staying in my room, it’s not practical to hang them over the shower bar.

Maybe you could purchase two less beaded silk decorated pillows for each bed, and buy a towel rack for each bathroom instead.

  1. You are spot on!

Having recently experienced 8 accommodations in 9 nights, lack of towel bars was my number one complaint.

The one place that had it absolutely right, amongst the fancy B&B’s and boutique hotels, was a Shilo Inn.

My number two complaint was a lack of desk/table and chair where one could use a laptop. Crouching over a cutesy little wrought iron and glass occasional table or reclining on a bed with my laptop on my stomach just don’t work for me.

Also, it continues to amaze me that a significant number of hostelries believe that two people traveling together will always share a suitcase. Two foldable luggage racks per room! Please!
