Planning to pick an upcoming weekend for some sedate wine tasting in Sonoma?
Skip July 24-26. That’s the weekend that the drag races, specifically the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals, are in town. For my readers who wouldn’t know a Funny Car from a funny clown, this race is a Very Big Deal(tm) in the drag racing world.
It will be loud, it will be smelly, and it will be very very VERY crowded. And on Sunday the 26th, traffic out of Infineon, along the main artery out of the Sonoma and Dry Creek wine regions, will suck like a Hoover on ethanol. Expect to sit on Hwy 37 for hours if you try to leave the area that day.
Wine, food, and scenery lovers, save yourselves the headache. Pick another weekend. Or better yet, pick a few days during the middle of the week and miss the crowds in the tasting rooms too!
