Finally, an article that discusses the realities of thieving from hotels. Especially high-end hotels that have the best amenities. I’ve had the privilege of staying in some of the nicest hostelries in California, from the Four Seasons Aviara (San Diego) to the Ventana in Big Sur to the Vintage Inn in Yountville.
And I’ve stolen soap from every one of them. It’s become a habit–almost an obsession.
The Four Seasons Aviara provided full-sized bars of L’Occitane soap in the shower, on the separate bathtub, and on the sink. As described in the article, I used one bar for the sink and the shower, and packed the others in my suitcase. I’ve even taken to bringing an extra zip-locking baggie in my luggage, so I can steal the once-used bars of high end soap too. I don’t bother with the cheapo mini-soaps in low budget motels. I’ve become a snooty soap thief–I only take designer labels nowadays.
After 9 months of travel for Moon California, I’ve got enough purloined soap to last for about 5 years.
Officer, I’m clean. Really!
